Dear Friends:

I hope you and your families are staying well during this pandemic. I also hope that you had a meaningful Easter and Passover and wishing all who observe, a blessed month of Ramadan.

Although New York is flattening the curve and there are good signs that social distancing is working, hospitalization, ICU rates and ventilator rates use are lower than projected, we must continue to do our part to stop the spread and protect our loved ones and essential workers.

As we continue our work, the NYC Council held the first-ever virtual Stated Meeting in the history and budget and legislative hearings are moving forward. My office has already put together weekly Virtual Townhalls on issues that mostly impact our district such as Small Businesses, Healthcare and Senior Resources and many are under way. We have continued our Food and PPE Drives, as well as the COVID-19 Cleaning Initiative for senior homes and community buildings. As always, to ensure you receive the best assistance, contact us at (718) 931-1721 or email us at MGjonaj@council.nyc.gov.

And while I am certain that our city will be stronger in the face of this pandemic, I want to express my condolences to those who have lost family and friends during this time and my thoughts and prayers go out to those who are continuing the fight against the virus. We are thankful for our healthcare workers, first responders and essential employees who put their lives on the line every day to save and protect all of us. We are forever indebted to them. We’re all in this together!

Sincerely,

NYC Councilman Mark Gjonaj
